Opera on the James is an organization of music lovers in Central Virginia who seek to further the appreciation and enjoyment of opera through community education, promotion of the art form, and support of opera singers and musicians.

Opera on the James presents a season of grand opera blazing with passion and conflict. Two highly controversial masterworks from the annals of operatic history—Verdi’s La Traviata and Mozarts’ Don Giovanni—come to life as Opera on the James explores the intensely emotional, tragic cost of human exploitation.
