MARC SCHAPMAN
Alfredo / La Traviata

American tenor Marc Schapman will portray the role of the handsome, intense romantic interest, Alfredo Germont. Marc Schapman is a “fresh, exciting new voice on the operatic scene.” He presents a handsome figure along with a thrilling lyric tenor voice of outstanding quality and intensity. He recently completed his doctoral studies in voice at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he was a protégé of the great Metropolitan Opera soprano, Martina Arroyo.

A native of Iowa, Mr. Schapman received his undergraduate training from Luther College.  His operatic credits include George Gibbs in the 2005 world premiere of Ned Rorem's Our Town, Pheron in the Opera Circle of Cleveland world premiere of Thamos, King of Egypt, Des Grieux in Manon and many others. Mr. Schapman also teaches on the voice faculty at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
