BRANCH FIELDS

Branch Fields, whom Opera America describes as a "bass of resonant richness," and the New York Times declared to be "a gifted young bass," recently was chosen to understudy the role of Emile de Becque and sing in the ensemble of South Pacific on Broadway, which recently won seven Tony Awards. Branch is also in his fourth season performing with the New York City Opera. He has participated in Samuel Barber's Antony and Cleopatra this season at Carnegie Hall and sung the roles of Angelotti in Tosca, Major Domo in Vanessa, and Zuniga in Carmen in past seasons. Mr. Fields performed with Opera on the James last season as Colline in La Bohème.
