Sarah Heltzel biography
Mezzo-soprano Sarah Heltzel’s recent roles include Siegrune in Seattle Opera’s acclaimed Der Ring Des Nibelungen, Fricka in Minnesota Concert Opera’s MINI-RING. Also this season, she sings a recital for the Wagner Society of New York, and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Boston Philharmonic and Minot Symphony Orchestra. Recent roles include Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi for Opera in the Heights, the Ugly Duchess in New York City Opera’s Alice In Wonderland, Der Komponist in Ariadne Auf Naxos with Winter Opera Saint Louis, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly with Indianapolis Opera, Nevada Opera, Opera on the James, Amarillo Opera, and Syracuse Opera, the title role in Carmen with Tacoma Opera, Flora in Verdi’s La Traviata for Seattle Opera, Desideria in The Saint Of Bleecker Street and the Marquise de Merteuil in The Dangerous Liaisons for New York’s Dicapo Opera Theatre, Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with Mississippi Opera, Dryade in Ariadne Auf Naxos with Toledo Opera, and Cherubino in Le Nozze Di Figaro for Chautauqua Opera and the Seattle Opera Young Artist Program. Recent concert engagements include with the Wagner Society of New York, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Boston Philharmonic and Minot Symphony Orchestra, Handel’s Messiah and Janacek’s Glagolitic Mass with Seattle Symphony, Verdi’s Requiem for Symphony Syracuse and Back Bay Chorale (Boston), and Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde with the Boston Chamber Music Society.
