Lauded for her “robust and clarion voice” and “physically imposing stage presence,” Nigerian-American soprano Olivia Rominiyi is quickly establishing herself as a voice to be reckoned with. She completed her undergraduate studies in speech-language pathology and voice performance at Old Dominion University in 2016. While there, she was a student of Professors Shirley Thompson and Katherine Lakoski. Career highlights include Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites, Lady Billows in Albert Herring, Marguerite in Faust, Béatrice in Béatrice et Bénédict, Mrs. Nolan in The Medium, Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte and Julia Jellicoe in The Grand Duke. Upcoming engagements include the role of Elisetta in Il matrimonio segreto as a guest artist with Dominion University Opera Theatre. As a Virginian, Ms. Rominiyi maintains an active performance profile throughout the Hampton Roads and Washington, D.C. areas. She also performs internationally in Nigeria, her second country of citizenship.
